Tandagree, also in County Armagh, has a castle nearby called Castle Tandagree which was built in 1837 and now houses the offices of Tayato Crisps. Loughgall is an important town in the apple growing area of County Armagh. Another town in County Armagh is Craigavon which is named after James Craig who was the first prime minister of Northern Ireland.
Other settlements in County Armagh include Newtonhamilton – it is in the south west in County Armagh, Killylea which is often misspelled and Acton – a village which was founded by Sir Toby Poyntz when he was given 500 acres in recognition of his military service. Acton is named after the village that Sir Toby lived in, in England. |
